spare tire wingnut

Postby rabidmadman » Thu Jul 18, 2013 1:01 pm

So somehow I managed to lose the wingnut that secures my spare. Would anyone here with access to a parts car care to sell me one? Thanks in advance

Have you checked local parts stores? I recall seeing these in the "Help" section years ago....

I checked all the local parts stores, and the help sections are pretty much empty now. I'll have to check every 77-90 b-body at the local junkyard again next time I go.

Currently, I am using the arm and plastic nut from a '95 caprice...which works fine for now.

You have something that secures your spare tire? I've got rope holding mine in.

You could also reasonably use a regular nut, just hand-tighten it.

I might be hitting the junkyard this Saturday. I'll fail to remember to look for it there. Bump this thread on Friday morning to remind me.

So I took the hold down system from a '95 Caprice and it works great. Not period correct, but it's much better than the shitty thing I'd get from the Help section.
