Little Update on my Lesabre

Fri Sep 30, 2016 5:14 am

Finally after 25 years I now have working air conditioning in my 1980 Lesabre! All the vent selections are working correctly now and the blower motor blows on High now too! I have also rigged up some tailpipes and now I can hear myself think again while driving it. I also fixed my header leak. I plan on buying a electric choke (retro fit from vacuum, 1973 vintage Quadrajet), a fast idle solonoid for when the ac compressor kicks on and a electric fuel pump (tired of leak down). But for now it's on hold unless I already have the parts for my little project, (baby steps) money is tight. Like to see more posts on here, anyone toolin on their rides? I keep putting off taking pics and posting them, I know, I like to see progress pics myself, but I keep forgetting to and remember it when it's dark. I'm getting old, LOL!

Awesome! I wound up replacing the entire A/C system on the caprice. Since R134a isn't worth a **** in these older cars with small evaporators, I wound up going with R406a (similar to the HotShot replacement), but it required a license, so I had to get that. Pain in the ass, but it was worth it! I hope you have fun with your A/C!

Cool. I wound up removing the AC system from my '90 caprice after the compressor seized. Replaced it with an acdelco bypass pulley. My current '89 still has R12 somehow and the compressor works.
