So a few weeks ago, I purchased a 1989 9c1 Caprice. This is now my second 9c1 and my 3rd caprice. It will likely soon be my only b-body and possibly my last. After I wrecked my '90 9c1, I drove it daily in frankensteined form, but knew that I would have to say goodbye eventually. I spent nearly 3 years searching eBay/craigslist/google for a replacement 9c1. It's now extremely difficult to get one of these in decent condition for a decent price and I'm glad that my search has ended for now.
Anyway, I'm posting a few pictures of my car when I bought it, and how it is now. It's a very strangely optioned 9c1 and came equipped with power windows, locks, and seats. It did not come optioned with transmission or power steering coolers but did come with the oil cooler. It still has the factory 9c1 gauge package and it has the certified 120mph speedometer. The seats are base but I find them to be much more comfortable than the heavy duty 9c1 seats...and they even have recline! I haven't had recline in my 10 years of b-body ownership....
Anyway, when I joined this board in 2009, this forum was really active. I feel like everyone moved on to other cars and gave up on their b-bodies. I almost gave up because my '90 is approaching 300k and is no longer dependable and has some major ignition issues that I can't figure out. Being that the '90 is in bad shape I decided to move on and I almost turned to the dark side and considered a p71 Crown Victoria. I'm so glad that things worked out for now. I plan to daily drive this one for the next year...and then maybe seriously consider a second car so I can preserve this one longer....or maybe do what I can to my '90 and use that.
Anyway, here she is.
Pictures start from the day I got it a few weeks ago up until the date of this post. The car is by no means perfect, but it is very original and pretty good for an '89 and is worthy of full restoration one day.
