No one's posted in a while. Just want to make sure the world outside of Jersey is still there. I was going to start dusting off my methane powered dune buggy, bunker of ammo, and my cans of dog food. _________________ Me hid big dings wid da hamma.

I'm still alive. I think I put my fuel line issue to rest yesterday. It's an ugly hack but it should be functional and safe. It's days like yesterday that make me ask myself what kind of idiot works on cars...and then I realize the answer: I'm the kind of idiot in question. _________________ 1980 Buick LeSabre Limited 4.1 V6 TH350, 38,000 miles, family heirloom. Still here of course. I spent yesterday replacing the fuel pump on my Astro van... _________________ CD Smalley

Just did the fuel pump in my car a week ago. With my vast knowledge of auto mechanics, it took me 3 days
Day 1: Unhooked all the lines and took out pump. Pushrod was stuck and had no idea how to move it up or out!
Day 2: Decided to give up on moving pushrod and took off the mounting plate and then everything came out. To my surprise however, the block was so gunked up in the original gasket it took me ALL day just to get it presentable
Day 3: still trying to get the gasket off and then decided to use sandpaper and all my troubles went away. Fuel pump went on soon after and car started. No more stalling on the highway.
Anyways, good learing experience overall. I now know to use a line wrench on the fuel line nut because i totally mangled it and I now know that the mounting plate has to come off or else the pushrod will be in the way. _________________ 1988 Chevy Caprice Classic Owner.

I'm still out here, too. I've been trying to find a place where I can tear down my Olds for its drive train R&R. I really don't want to do this out in the driveway. I guess I'm just getting old or something.
The Chevy 350 for the Olds is sitting in the back of my Astro--there's nothing new about the Astro being used as a lawn barn, but I like to think that my Astro has become a V16 since it already has a 305 under the hood. _________________ Rob
