We wanted to buy a new vehicle. We went to Chevy first I could not find a car that I would even trade my 89 Caprice for. I didn’t want much a new 89 caprice would have been perfect with updates. Rear wheel drive, v8. four door, six passenger, 20+ cubic feet of trunk, gas mileage equal to the 89, and something other than an ugly gray interior (I hate Gray, silver and colors that look like gray). the salesman said I should get an SUV (I guess he doesn't know what a trunk is). We went an looked at a Pontiac G8 GT but it only comes with guess what color interior. All Crysler Dodge could show me had gray interion (shades of henry ford). The car companies have packaged the options so that you have to get three things you don't want to get one you do. In the current state of computer process controls it would not be that difficult or expensive to fix this from a manufacturing standpoint. On the old caprice I ordered power door locks without power windows (I had a Cady that kept me broke on the power windows and power accesseries constant failures), heavy duty cooling system, 60/40 reclineing seat (not power), cassette/fm stereo and didn't have to order a gaggle of other JUNK. I got so frustrated I decided to get a small truck instead and get rid of the one vehicle in my driveway that's not a b body Chevy. I drove a Chevy Colorado all I can say is what a POS and you can't get a nice trim package without ON*. I drove a ford (not bad needs update), and a dodge (didn’t like the handling or the fit and finish) but was unimpressed when compared to the old rusted worn out but very reliable 88 Toyota my wife has. Out of desperation I went to Nissan Dealer and found a small truck that I didn't hate it has almost everything I want on a truck and best of all No B**T UGLY Gray interior, I may end up with a truck made in Mississippi?? I'm going to need therapy after this shopping trip. GM will have to start making cars again to get me out of my Caprices. OK venting complete I feel Better and Yes I am an Ole Pharte and set in my ways.

That's what the G8 is. I personally like that car. My favorite right now though is the Cadillac CTS-V.... Mommy buy me that!

if i were to ever buy a new car i'd look into a police package crown vic, as the civilian versions are now discontinued. i doubt they will still be around by the time i'm considering buying a brand new car. i don't want to have to drive a truck to have a rwd body-on-frame.

Boy do I feel your pain! Todays cars are on one side of the coin more efficient and reliable than ever. But the price for all this you ask. Reduced trunk space, no interior color choices other than stupid gray, black or tan, rock hard uncomfortable seats, hard plastic everywhere you look, every increasing curbweight becuase todays generation needs a rollong jukebox on wheels and utterly bland Asian exterior styling. Todays cars are a sad joke and really reflect how bad society has degenerated. It's sadly only going to get worse. Thanks to a government that can barely run it'self we are soon going to be forced to drive tin can compact cars with tiny 4 cylinder engines because of the 35 MPG CAFE mandated by King George Dubya. Meanwhile the oil reserves just keep on stock piling up.
